Julian Sayers DL FRICS FAAV FRAgS

Julian has worked in Oxfordshire, the surrounding counties and further afield for over 40 years, advising farmers and landowners on a wide range of matters relating to the occupation and ownership of farms and landed estates.

His planning and management expertise associated with all aspects of rural property, including the preparation of whole farm and estate plans, have led to assignments throughout the country and regular speaking engagements.  He also specialises in property acquisitions, the promotion and sale of development land, estate management, family succession, agricultural tenancies, tax planning and energy projects.

Julian is a Deputy Lieutenant for Oxfordshire, Vice President of The Farmers Club, Chairman of Trustees for The Worshipful Company of Farmers Trustee Company, chairs the Farm Tenancy Forum for the Defra Ministers, is a Trustee of the Lawes Agricultural Trust and Trustee & Hon. Treasurer of the Oxfordshire Agricultural Society Trust.

In recent years he has been Master of The Worshipful Company of Farmers, Vice Chairman of Governors at  The Royal Agricultural University , National Chairman and now a Vice President of RABI, Vice Chairman of The Earth Trust together with being Chairman of The Oxford Farming Conference and The Farmers Club.  He is also a Life Vice President of the National Federation of Young Farmers’ Clubs and an Honorary Fellow of  the Royal Agricultural University.

Simon Alden MRICS FAAV

Simon first joined Adkin in 1984 prior to attending the Royal Agricultural College, Cirencester. He returned to the firm and qualified as a Chartered Surveyor in 1988 and became a Fellow of the Central Association of Agricultural Valuers in 1992. He is a RICS Registered Valuer and acts as an Expert Witness. Simon also runs his own family property business incorporating farming interests, residential lets and a multi-tenanted office park. He has now been advising clients across Southern England and further afield for some thirty years on a wide range of property related matters.

Simon is a past President of the CAAV and a member of their Executive Committee, as well as sitting on their Governing Council. He is also a past Chairman of the Local Branch of both the RICS and CAAV.  Simon is known for his attention to detail and unbiased professionalism. His specialist areas of work include Planning & Development (covering promotion agreements, options and conditional contracts), Landlord & Tenant, Corporate & Private Client Valuations, Compulsory Purchase, Expert Witness and a number of other professional services.

Sarah Payne BSc (Hons) MRICS FAAV

Sarah graduated from the Royal Agricultural College in July 1997 with a 1st class Honours Degree in Rural Land Management. Sarah is a qualified Chartered Surveyor and Agricultural Valuer  having gained extensive experience in Estate Management since graduating.

Sarah joined Adkin in 2004 and now undertakes a wide range of professional work, particularly specialising in Estate Management, Basic Payment Scheme, Conservation and Agri Environment Schemes, Rural Property Valuations, Residential and Commercial Lettings and Whole Farm and Estate Planning.

Philip Pocock FRICS FAAV

Philip has worked for Adkin since 1964 and has forged close links with farmers and landowners in the area throughout that period. Since retiring as a Director in October 2014 Philip continues to act as a Consultant for Adkin on a part-time basis.

His skills and experience over a wide range of rural property and business issues have seen him act for up to three generations of the same family.  His specialist areas include property agency, strategic development, compensation claiming, contract farming and auctions.

Philip has been significantly involved in the CAAV having been Chairman of the Education and Examination Committee and has sat on the Executive Committee and Governing Council.

Alison Bowler BSc MRICS

Alison, a qualified Chartered Surveyor, joined Adkin in 1995 after graduating from the Royal Agricultural College with a Degree in Rural Estate Management.

Alison has undertaken a wide range of professional work but now specialises in Estate Management and Residential & Commercial Lettings and Management.

Emily Ham BA (Hons) PGDipSurv MRICS FAAV

Emily came to Adkin in August 2007 after graduating from Nottingham University with an Honours Degree in Geography.  Since then she has successfully completed the College of Estate Management Graduate Development Programme and in February 2010 was awarded a Postgraduate Diploma in Surveying, passing with a distinction.

Emily qualified as a Chartered Surveyor in May 2010 and passed her Agricultural Valuers exam later that year to become a member of the CAAV.  She is the Tutorial Organiser and Committee Member for the Berks & Oxon Rural Valuers Association which is the local CAAV Association.

Since being at Adkin Emily undertakes a wide range of professional work, particularly specialising in Residential & Commercial Property Management, Valuations, Schemes including Basic Payment Scheme and Environmental Stewardship along with Compensation Claims and Planning Applications.

Kerry Holbrook-Bull BSc (Hons) MRICS FAAV

Kerry joined Adkin in May 2017 having previously worked for nearly 10 years with a leading national firm of Property Consultants and Chartered Surveyors in Gloucestershire and Oxfordshire. She is a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and a Fellow of the Central Association of Agricultural Valuers, as well as a Registered Valuer.

Kerry undertakes a wide range of professional work, with a particular focus on rural, commercial, residential & agricultural property management and lettings. She also specialises in landlord and tenant matters.  She is known for her attention to detail and is currently an RICS APC Assessor and an Examiner for the CAAV and has historically been the Chairman for the Gloucestershire & District Agricultural Valuers.

Having growing up on a dairy farm in the West Country, Kerry attended the Royal Agricultural University and studied Rural Land Management where she gained a 1st class Honours Degree before qualifying as a Chartered Surveyor and Rural Valuer.  Outside work, her spare time is spent with her young family and her hobbies include horse riding, baking and walking.

Kevin Prince BSc (Hons) MRICS FAAV

Kevin graduated from Reading University with a First Class Honours (with Distinction) in Land Management in 1995.  He worked for a multi-disciplinary firm covering Oxfordshire, Berkshire, Hampshire and Wiltshire from 1995 until 2004, undertaking a wider range of property related work including auctioneering, planning, farm and estate management, valuations and sales. In 2004 Kevin moved to a national firm of Chartered Surveyors and headed the Estates and Farm Agency Department in Salisbury, selling and purchasing farms and estates throughout Hampshire, Berkshire, Wiltshire and Dorset.  In 2012 Kevin was recruited by another national firm of Property Consultants as Head of Residential Sales where he was responsible for sales and acquisitions of all property types ranging from rural building plots to large country estates.

Known for his calm and unflappable approach, even in the tensest of negotiations, clients point to the fact that Kevin delivers totally honest and succinct advice no matter what the circumstances.  In addition to his transactional work Kevin is a Fellow of the CAAV and an RICS Registered Valuer providing valuations for a range of purposes.  He has acted as an Expert Witness in various property related disputes and is a trained community mediator.

Kevin’s specialist areas of work include Property Agency, Valuations, Acquisitions and Searches and a number of other professional services. 

Beth Robertson-Flynn BSc (Hons) MRICS

Beth joined Adkin in February 2020 having previously worked as Assistant to the Land Agent for a large Berkshire Estate. Beth graduated from the Royal Agricultural University in 2012 with an Honours degree in Rural Land Management and became a qualified Chartered Surveyor in November 2021. Outside work, her spare time is spent horse riding and teaching pilates.

Megan Middleton BVMedSci (Hons) MSc

Megan joined Adkin in May 2022 having completed a Masters in Rural Land and Estate Management at the Royal Agricultural University. Previously Megan used her honours degree in Veterinary Medical Science working in Business Development in the pharmaceutical and cattle genetics industry.

Megan supports Sarah Payne in undertaking a wide range of professional work, including Large Estate Management, with a particular interest in Agri Environment Schemes including the Sustainable Farming Incentive.

Alexandra Brown BSc (Hons)

Jeremy Loxton BA MSc

Jeremy joined Adkin in September 2022 having previously worked for the Country Land and Business Association (CLA) for four years and prior to this in various sales, marketing and business management roles.

From first completing a BA in Liberal Arts in 1990, in 2022 he formalised his rural interests and experience by completing an MSc in Rural Estate Management at the Royal Agricultural University, Cirencester.

Jeremy is an advocate for native breeds and owns a pedigree suckler herd of Belted Galloway cattle and is a council member of the breed society. Areas of professional interest include Estate Management, Farm Business Diversification and Planning & Development.

Camilla Kilgour BSc (Hons)

Jack Burchmore BSc (Hons)

Jack joined Adkin in November 2023 having graduated from Harper Adams University in 2021 with a BSc (Hons) degree in Rural Enterprise and Land Management.

He comes from a rural background in Pembrokeshire and worked for a land agent, chartered surveyors and an auctioneer firm in that area during his placement year.  For the last three summers Jack has worked on farms around Oxfordshire.  He will be assisting Simon Alden in a wide range of professional work.

Outside work, Jack enjoys skiing and playing hockey.
